Los Angeles-based alternative rock band Temper City made a breakthrough with their debut single “Self Aware,” a viral release that quickly gained worldwide attention following its explosive rise on TikTok and streaming platforms.
Released on February 15, 2026, under an exclusive license to Thirty Knots, the track became a global streaming success, eventually reaching the top five of the Shazam Global Chart and making Temper City the first Israeli band to debut on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
“Self Aware” delivers a moody and atmospheric alternative rock sound influenced by early 2010s indie music, combining emotional lyricism with dark melodic textures and guitar-driven production. The song explores themes of emotional distance, relationship struggles, self-reflection, and overthinking, all wrapped in a hauntingly memorable chorus that fueled its viral momentum online.
The band consists of Eytan Peled, Chen Kordova, and Aviv Barenholtz, who previously worked extensively behind the scenes as producers and songwriters before forming the group in 2021.
Its emotionally resonant lyrics and atmospheric sound have helped position Temper City as one of the breakout alternative rock acts of 2026.
Key Lyrics:
“Just don’t hang your hopes on me. I wanna feel something. God, you look so pretty when you tell me that you love me… I wish that I could lie, but my mind gets in the way. I know you think that I’m always way too self-aware.”
