Nigerian Afro-fusion artist Runda continues his artistic rise with “Afunimawobe,” a vibrant new release that further showcases his evolving blend of Afropop, R&B, and contemporary African sounds. The single officially arrived on May 20, 2026, through ONErpm.

Known for his roots as a street poet in the Pen-Cinema area of Agege, Lagos, Runda first gained wider recognition after a viral demo caught the attention of DJ Neptune, eventually leading to their breakout collaboration “Bembe.” Since then, he has continued building a reputation for emotionally expressive songwriting and smooth melodic delivery.

On “Afunimawobe,” Runda explores a playful yet emotionally layered connection between two people navigating attraction, reassurance, and emotional closeness. The song carries a conversational feel, blending catchy melodies with relatable storytelling.

The Yoruba phrase “Afunimawobe” loosely reflects the idea of a captivating presence that leaves someone deeply mesmerized, serving as both the emotional centerpiece and recurring refrain of the track. Speaking on the inspiration behind the record, Runda explained that the song captures “that moment when everything lines up and you stop overthinking it. You just go with the feeling.”

Driven by warm production, rhythmic percussion, and melodic Afro-fusion textures, the record highlights Runda’s ability to balance street-rooted authenticity with polished contemporary sound.
