Tanzanian R&B and Afropop artist Buki (Buki tz) delivers a deeply emotional Bongo Flava single titled “Nahofia,” officially released on June 10, 2026. The slow-tempo record highlights his expressive style while leaning into a more vulnerable and storytelling-driven direction.
Translated from Swahili, “Nahofia” means “I am afraid” or “I fear,” a title that perfectly frames the song’s emotional weight. At its core, the track tells the story of a lover caught in a painful and toxic relationship, where misunderstanding and emotional strain have taken over what once felt meaningful.
Despite recognizing that the relationship may no longer be healthy and that emotional exhaustion is inevitable, the most powerful moment comes through the recurring chorus line: “Japo nahofia kuwa mbali nawe” (“Even though I fear being far from you”). This line captures the central struggle of the song—fear of separation versus the need for emotional freedom.
Lastly, with this release, Buki strengthens his presence in the Tanzanian music scene by offering a heartfelt record that blends emotional honesty with smooth Bongo Flava expression, leaving a lasting impression through its relatable message and delicate delivery.
