JOŸA is the fourth studio album by French Afrolov’ artist Tayc, released globally on May 15, 2026. The project marks one of his most ambitious works to date, both in concept and sonic direction.
At its core, JOŸA is built around a reimagined spelling of the word “Joy,” carrying a deeper historical and emotional meaning. Tayc draws inspiration from the story of an enslaved Black music lover who endured immense suffering yet maintained an unbreakable sense of inner happiness. This narrative becomes the emotional foundation of the album, shaping its themes of pain, resilience, faith, love, and emotional survival.
Sonically, the project introduces what Tayc describes as “The Joy,” a vibrant and expansive musical direction that evolves his signature Afrolov’ and R&B style. Across the album, he blends smooth melodies with Amapiano grooves, Afrobeat rhythms, and polished pop arrangements, creating a more dynamic and layered listening experience.
Structured like a cinematic journey, JOŸA unfolds through 20 tracks that alternate between full songs, interludes, and thematic transitions marked by the “ÿ” motif. These segments help guide the emotional flow of the project, connecting its different phases of storytelling. The album also features collaborations with international artists, adding additional texture and perspective to its narrative landscape.
