Following the intensity of “Never Going Back!”, Phoebe Bridgers slows things down with “Other Plans,” the 12th track on her third studio album, Lost Weekend, released on August 14, 2026. The brief track creates a quiet change of pace, relying on atmosphere and emotional tension rather than a large production.
The arrangement is deliberately sparse. Bridgers’ piano sits at the center of the song, while atmospheric synthesizers from Ethan Gruska gradually fill the background. The result is a subdued and haunting sound that gives the lyrics plenty of room to breathe.
Lyrically, “Other Plans” carries a darker edge. Bridgers opens with an unsettling memory about creating a world, blood on a favorite shirt, and someone trembling like a character from a horror film. The imagery immediately introduces a sense of guilt, fear, and emotional uncertainty.
