Veteran Enugu-based cultural musician Chief Michael Udegbi preserves the richness of Igbo traditional music with “Oji Ego Ji Ike (Throwback 2017),” an expansive Ogene and Highlife masterpiece officially released on digital platforms on July 10, 2026. The record presents a professionally archived version of one of his memorable live studio sessions originally captured in 2017.

Running for an impressive 25 minutes and 12 seconds, “Oji Ego Ji Ike” delivers an authentic traditional music experience filled with indigenous rhythms, powerful chants, and deep cultural storytelling. Recorded at Akpamma Studio, the song highlights Chief Michael Udegbi’s ability to preserve the essence of Igbo heritage through timeless musical expressions.

The title, which loosely translates to “The one who has money commands power,” reflects the song’s exploration of wealth, influence, and societal recognition.
