Known for his raw, unfiltered Lagos energy, Crownstar moves away from the typical party themes in this release, instead delivering a sharp, lyrical commentary on loyalty, doubt, and the “doubting Thomas” mentality prevalent in the struggle for success.
Meanwhile, the title “Thomas” draws from the biblical reference to the apostle who refused to believe without physical proof. In this track, Crownstar addresses the skeptics—friends, family, and industry gatekeepers—who didn’t see the vision when he was recording in makeshift studios and performing at local street festivals.
Eventually, the lyrics, delivered in a mix of Pidgin English and Yoruba, speak directly to the Nigerian youth experience. He warns his listeners to be wary of those who only show up when the “glory” is visible while ignoring the “story” that came before it.
