Maskandi veteran Mjik’jelwa returns with a new studio album titled “Ngiyaqhosha Ngiyaqholosha,” released on August 18, 2026, through Mjikjelwa Music Production.

The project stays firmly rooted in the traditional Maskandi sound that has defined Mjik’jelwa’s career. Rich guitar work, rhythmic storytelling, and Zulu-language lyricism give the album an authentic feel while allowing the artist to reflect on culture, relationships, resilience, and life experiences.

One of the project’s notable moments is “Ngiphethe ishlangu,” an extended track built around themes of cultural pride, perseverance, and defending one’s artistic identity. The song’s title roughly translates to “I am carrying my shield,” reinforcing its message of standing firm in the face of challenges.

The album also features the title track “Ngiyaqhosha ngiyaqholosha,” alongside songs such as “Batshakadule,” “Akuphelele,” “Ngilala Ngingalele,” “Umuhle ntoyami,” “Indaba kabani,” “Amathembami,” and “Sesikhathele.”
