Nigerian artist Sveti, born Nurudeen Okikiola, introduces his musical journey with “Amunicho,” a street-inspired Afrobeats record released on July 28, 2026. The song serves as the opening track and lead release from his debut three-song project, The First Lap.
Drawing from everyday Lagos experiences, “Amunicho” focuses on money, ambition, survival, and the pressure to provide. Sveti reflects on the realities of chasing financial stability, supporting family, staying consistent, and seeking divine favour while watching others leave the country in search of better opportunities.
Musically, the record keeps things lean and rhythmic, allowing Sveti’s delivery to remain at the forefront. He moves between Yoruba, Pidgin English, and English, bringing a distinctly Nigerian street perspective to the song while maintaining an accessible Afrobeats sound.
The production comes from Milkidboy RDT, with additional arrangement associations credited to Kejoe. Their minimalist approach gives the track a hypnotic bounce that complements Sveti’s multilingual flows and conversational storytelling.
As the opening statement from The First Lap, “Amunicho” introduces Sveti as an emerging voice with a clear understanding of his environment, ambitions, and musical direction.
