The track dives into darker textures while highlighting the artist’s ability to blend personal storytelling with South Africa’s evolving electronic sound.
The title “uValo,” which translates to “Anxiety” or “Fear” in Zulu, reflects the introspective nature of the record. Built around deep house rhythms, haunting chords, and powerful 3-Step drum patterns, the production from Skillz and Section Five creates a captivating foundation for Mbalenhle M’s expressive vocal delivery.
Featured as the second track on her debut Ngokwami EP, “uValo” continues the creative partnership between Mbalenhle M, Skillz, and Section Five, following their previous work, including the acclaimed “Ulwembu” collaboration.
